[writing] Back there a-ways

I'm going back to the beginning. I've run up against the lack of resolution or development, for that matter, of the main character's grief and personal journey. So I'm headed back into the early chapters to tidy up the story a bit and give Quest some changes. There are several pivot points that need to happen and I just don't have enough weight invested in Quest's relationships, personal development and grieving process for them to happen. The story pivot - that can happen just fine, but I have to tie the one to the others, or what's the point? I might as well just write a YA book about losing your family and the grieving process. And that would be fine, except that I also want to write about epic magic battles.

So. I go back to the beginning. And begin inserting all the meat and organs and stuff into the skeleton of this story. And hope, when I'm done, that it will know how to gallop.
