I do not know the way

[dollie] For me, this time.

I recently took the time to make a 1/6 custom outfit for myself. It's been a while. My focus recently has been on getting some revenue in through the door and into my PF fund, and since I'm a bigger stickler for quality and perfection when I do work for others, it leaves me feeling like I've not much left to give to work for myself. The best of what I've made graces other people's shelves.

There's nothing inhernetly wrong with that - the enjoyment for me comes in the design process and the actually making of the item, not in staring at it afterward. But my shelves don't really reflect my current level of skill, except in one or two pieces. And I had this beautiful Rose repaint by Jacque Ovoltraats, waiting for an outfit set to do it justice.

Thus, the last in my series of sorceress outfits. I learned a lot about leatherworking doing this, and I can already tell that my next Ebay offering will benefit from that. The dress isn't quite right - the back is slightly shorter than the front, due to a bit of a mixup in assembling the back, but it's hardly noticeable when she's wearing the cloak, and hey - this is for me. If I don't care, then big deal. Sometimes good enough really is.

More importantly, it's given my desire to go on sewing a shot in the arm. I'm working on a couple of commissions and it's been an uphill battle, let me tell you, trying to stay motivated in the face of a growing ennui with the whole hobby. I feel inspired again. I feel like getting all those poor languishing Cys out of their drawer and onto the shelf. I feel like sewing, baby!
