[writing] 8 out of 10 stars
Wrote a review of Guitar Hero for the husband's website. It was a bit of a strange experience, because I haven't really been a gamer for about a year now. WoW was my last hurrah before I moved into dolls. I used to write reviews and articles a little bit, back when the site was newer and I was still playing a bit of this and that. I never really felt I was much good at it, and it was always a bit of a struggle to produce something that wasn't twee or overly aggressive.
The Guitar Hero review, though, was a breeze. I basically started with the blog entry from a few days back and expanded it with gameplay and some humorous (I hope) rock speak, and voila! I think it's a decent bit of writing, all things considered, and I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of reaction I get from GWJ readers.
I wonder if my improvement is due to GH being the first game I've really enjoyed for a while, or because of all my writing that I've been doing over the last year. Probably a mix of both. It's nice to see that what my writing prof told me once is in fact true. If you just keep writing, write anything, write everything, you almost can't help but get better at it.
