[life] See Karla run. Run, Karla, run.
And I have been. Running, that is. Just got back, as a matter of fact.
Apparently I'm in the "honeymoon" stage of running, which my husband and sundry others of my friends assure me will soon dissipate, leaving me in the grim and dismal marshlands of "hard running," when the only thing keeping you going is that tired old adage, "no pain, no gain," and the endorphin fix at the end. For now, though, I am enjoying it. Feeling my body slowly wake up and remember what it was like when everything worked smoothly and with joyous precision, feeling my breathing get steadier, feeling my heart begin to shoulder the load of oxygen dispersal with ever greater sturdiness. I feel good.
After ten years of mostly sedentary life, it feels very weird and sort of spiritual, this reconnecting with my physical self. I can see why some people become born again exercisers, how exercise could become an addiction, why you would consider giving up sugar and fat and chocolate, just to extend and more fully experience this kind of clean living.
Okay, I don't understand anyone giving up chocolate, for any reason. But the rest of it, definately.
