I do not know the way

[writing] Well, technically reading. But no 'rithmatic

After a bit of verbal abuse (which seems to be a developing trend in this meme, beware, beware!) Coldforged passed me the book baton.

How many books do you have on your shelf?

Erm. Which shelf do you mean? The one in my office has... *counts* 44. But many are poetry books, and therefore slimmer than your average beefy fantasy tome. Downstairs in the basement we have probably 200 or so on shelves and another hundred in boxes yet, I would imagine. I have to cull them again soon.

What is the last book you purchased?

The Curse of Chalion, by Lois McMaster Bujold, a wonderfully funny and talented author that I've just recently rediscovered. Absolutely stunning worldbuilding and characterization, and a knack for making epic events into deeply personal journeys for her characters.

What book are you currently reading?

Re-reading The Curse of Chalion, as I burned through it too fast to truly appreciate it the first time round. I'm also halfway through a re-read of Stephen King's On Writing, a chatty and somewhat helpful writing primer. He helped me get over my dependancy on adverbs. Hello, my name is Karla, and it's been two months since I last used the word, "angrily."

What are the last five books you read?

The Hallowed Hunt, Lois McMaster Bujold.
Elantris, Brandon Sanderson (extremely good for a first novel)
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, J. K. Rowling
Digger, Volume 1, Ursula Vernon (graphic novel, but it's damn funny and brilliantly drawn)
The Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis

To which five people are you passing this baton?

I scrounged five people, some of whom I sort of know. What they do with it once it's passed is not my responsibility.

Ursula Vernon

AlphaOmega

Kallisti

Darth Vader

the devil
